Lash Extension Prices in NYC: What 67 Techs Actually Charge

A classic set in New York is advertised anywhere from $35 to $400. That range is real, and it is also the least useful sentence anyone can give you.

What is the difference between classic, hybrid and volume?

It is the number of extensions attached to each natural lash, and it is the single thing that decides both price and look.

Classic is one extension on one natural lash. It reads as a longer version of your own lashes. If your natural lashes are sparse, classic will look sparse too — there is nothing to attach to.

Volume is a fan of several lighter extensions on each natural lash, which fills gaps and reads darker and fluffier. It is more work, which is the $17 difference.

Hybrid mixes both. It is the most commonly recommended first set for exactly that reason, and its price sits between the two.

If a tech recommends hybrid when you asked for classic, that is usually an honest read of your natural lashes rather than an upsell.

Why the fill price matters more than the full set price

This is the part most first-time clients get wrong. A full set is once. Fills are every two to three weeks, indefinitely.

At NYC's typical $95 fill on a three-week cycle, lashes cost roughly $1,650 a year after the first set. On a two-week cycle it is closer to $2,500. The $100 you focused on when booking is a small share of what you will actually spend.

Two things to check before committing to a tech:

  • How long after your last fill does their fill price still apply? Many techs charge the full-set price again past two or three weeks, because at that point they are rebuilding rather than filling.
  • Do they charge more to fill someone else's work? Some do, and it is reasonable — they may spend the first half hour correcting what they inherited.

Why is there a $35 set and a $400 set in the same city?

Both exist in our data and both are honest. The spread usually comes down to:

  • Experience. A tech building a portfolio prices low deliberately. That is a genuine opportunity, not a red flag, provided they show recent healed work.
  • Time booked. A $200 volume set is often a three-hour appointment; a $70 set may be ninety minutes.
  • Products. Retention differences between adhesives are real.
  • Location. A Manhattan studio prices differently from an outer-borough home studio.

The prices to actually question are the ones well under $60 for a volume set. Volume takes time, and time is the cost. Sustained pricing below what the hours are worth usually means the fan work is pre-made and applied fast.

What to ask before you book

  1. Does the price include removal of an existing set?
  2. What is your fill price, and after how many weeks does it become a full set again?
  3. Can I see healed photos at two weeks, not just the day-of shots?
  4. Is there a travel fee to my borough, if you are mobile?

The healed-photo question is the one that separates a strong tech from a good photographer. Day-of photos always look good. Two-week photos show retention.

How we got these numbers

We read the published price lists of home-based beauty vendors listed on BuzzGram in New York City and grouped them by what the service actually is, not what it is called. "Volume set", "mega volume" and "full volume set" all land in the same bucket.

Every figure is a median of published list prices, with the number of separate vendors behind it shown next to it. We use the median rather than the average so one $400 outlier cannot drag a category upward. Where fewer than eight vendors publish a price for something, we leave it out rather than guess.

These are list prices in US dollars, before tip and before any add-on. They are what vendors say they charge, which is not always what someone pays after a consultation. More on the method in how we calculate local pricing.

Is hybrid or classic better for thin natural lashes?

Hybrid or volume. Classic attaches one extension per natural lash, so sparse natural lashes produce a sparse result. Volume fans fill the gaps.
